We have solved the 1958 Chevy Car lock mystery. There were 2 different styles of locks used in 1958. There is long style and flat style. The way to check to see which type your exact model needs is to verify the last 2 digits of the style number on the firewall trim tag. See below for a fitment chart. Match your last 2 digits of your style number to my chart below to see if this is the proper lock set for your model. There is a photo diagram in the pics that shows what number you need to match. (see pics). If your car does not match any of the style numbers below, search my store for the 1958 flat lock set. If you are unsure, please message me your style number.
This is for a 1958 Chevrolet car complete LONG style lock set with original ribbed stainless lock faces and we include the special door lock pawls. Check the compatibility chart to verify fitment for your exact model. This set will work on a station wagon but does not come with a tailgate lock. The ribbed stainless lock face is what came on the car from the factory. Don't accept others that sell a universal lock set with the smooth faces and they don't come with the pawls and /or is the incorrect fitment. This 5 piece lock set includes the ignition lock cylinder, 2- ribbed face door locks with the correct length pawls, ribbed face trunk lock, truck lock rod, glove box lock, 2- original style gm octagon shaped keys, 2- pawl retainer clips and 3 universal style door/trunk lock retainers. All locks are keyed alike, so one key works every lock.
